The website preview

The preview keeps likes, passes and skips in your browser’s page memory. They are not sent to WatchMatch and are cleared when the page reloads. The website does not include advertising or analytics scripts, account registration, a mailing-list form, cookies set by our application, or local-storage tracking. Fonts are hosted with the website.

Your iPhone library

The app stores your watchlist, reactions, watched status and personal ratings on your device. Its taste model uses that local library. The full library and your personal scores are not uploaded to our catalog service. Device backups may include app data according to your operating-system settings.

Catalog requests and posters

The iPhone app sends search text, catalog filters, page numbers and requested title identifiers to our catalog service. Related recommendations use selected title identifiers; those requests can reveal an interest in a title. Our service requests catalog data from The Movie Database (TMDB).

Both the website and the app load posters from TMDB’s image service. Your device makes those requests directly, so the image service receives your IP address and request metadata. The website’s Referrer-Policy is set to no-referrer.

Hosting and technical data

Cloudflare hosts the website and catalog service on its global network. Network providers process IP addresses and technical request information to deliver and protect the service. Our catalog service uses IP-based request throttling to limit abuse.

We do not maintain an application database of catalog requests or enable optional Workers request logs, traces or web analytics. The service temporarily caches catalog responses in memory for up to 15 minutes; cached search metadata can contain the search text. Rate-limit state is temporary. Cloudflare and TMDB may process and retain technical information under their own policies. We do not promise that those providers keep no logs or process data only in your country.

Accounts, ads and permissions

The first iPhone version does not create accounts, include advertising or analytics SDKs, or use cross-app tracking. It does not request access to your contacts, camera, microphone, precise location or advertising identifier.

Removing data

Reload the website to clear preview reactions. In the iPhone app, remove entries from Library or delete the app to remove its local data. Restoring an operating-system backup may restore app data. Manage backups in your device settings.

External services

Movie and series information, cast, poster images and user review excerpts come from TMDB. External links open services with their own data practices. Read the Cloudflare privacy policy and TMDB privacy policy.

Contact and updates

Our support page will include the operator’s public privacy contact before the iPhone app launches. This page will be updated when that information or the service’s data practices change.
